St George

I am a lucky girl. I married a man whose parents own a second home in St. George, and thus we have access to an inexpensive vacation whenever we need one. This last week we packed up our kids and our tiny Corolla (hopefully this is the last trip we ever have to make in it - we're upgrading to a minivan!! Woohoo!!!) and drove the 5 hours to St. George. The kids did awesome during the drive there and back - much better than I expected. I love St. George. Nothing is more beautiful than those rocky, red cliffs and wide blue sky.

The first day we were there, Aiva actually came down with some sort of stomach flu. She was attached to me all that day. Doesn't everyone want their mom when they don't feel well? And sweet Emma is a momma's girl through and through lately. She is quite partial to me, and fusses if someone else is holding her if she can see me. So this photo is an accurate portrayal of how this whole day was spent: in front of the TV, both girls hanging all over me. Life is good.

Our St. George tradition: The Pizza Factory!! It began on our honeymoon over 5 years ago. Now every time we visit St. George, our first dinner out is always to the Pizza Factory. They have the BEST pizza!!

Outside the restaurant they have a little stream and bridge. Aiva could have spent HOURS throwing rocks into the water.

After dinner, we visited the St. George temple. It's amazing how old it is, and how beautiful. They paint it white every 10 years, and the last time was about 8 months ago, so it looked so pristine! Such a beautiful contrast with the red cliffs in the background.

The next morning we got going early before it go too hot, and went on a hike in the hills behind the house. It is so gorgeous! The red hills, the blue sky. Amazing.

Mike had Emma strapped to his back, and Aiva was begging to be carried on the way back. What a stud-muffin!!
