Happy Birthday Aiva!!

Our baby girl turned two years old today! We didn't do much because we're having a family party later this week. But I wanted to make mention of the two-year anniversary of the best day of our lives.

To start off, this is Aiva's very first picture taken with Mike's cell phone. She weighed in at nine pounds. We were all shocked! Aww . . . seriously, the best day of my life.

Aiva and I went to the store today and bought her very first trike! She loved it, and kept telling us so proudly that it is pink!

Okay, this is so white trash. We aren't doing her real birthday cake until Thursday with our families, but we wanted to do something special tonight anyway. So we stuck two candles in a raspberry-filled doughnut, and sang happy birthday!

Yum! Seriously, would YOU complain about a raspberry-filled doughnut-flavored cake???

Okay, well Aiva would. After the first bite, she got freaked out because "hands messy!" and she refused to eat any more. So we gave her a spoon, and this is what she did to it. Aww . . . a perfectly good raspberry-doughnut-cake gone to waste??? Nope. Mommy ate it. Sad, sad pregnant lady. I couldn't justify eating a whole one because of the 250 calories (my doc told me I need to slow down unless I want another nine-pounder), but I could eat my daughter's shredded portion because it would have been thrown away!!! OH, the SHAME!

Funny thing . . . after it was over, we remembered that last year went just like this. Aiva cried after we put her hands in her cake, and then she went at it with a spoon after we'd cleaned her up and calmed her down. Sigh . . . my little OCD child.

Anyway, Happy Birthday to my sweet Aiva, and thanks be to God for the wonderful two years that we have had with her! As I always sing to her, "you are my sunshine . . . "
